Gazipur fire: Two more dies, death toll rises to 14

The death toll from a fire caused by a gas cylinder blast in Gazipur’s Kaliakair upazila have risen to 14 as another two burned injured died at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
Moshiur Rahman, 22, another RMG worker, succumbed to his injuries around 9.05pm on Tuesday while Komla Khatun, 65, breathed his last around 4.30am on Wednesday. They bothe were being treated at ICU department of the burn institute.
Dr Tarikul Islam, residential doctor of the institute, confirmed matter, adding that Moshiur and Komla both were suffered 60 percent.

Another 15 people are currently undergoing treatment, he said.

At least 35 people, including women and children, sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in Kaliakair on Wednesday evening.
One patient was admitted with 100 percent burns while three were hospitalised with 95 percent burns, and 16 were hospitalised with over 50 percent burns, according to sources at the hospital.

Locals said a fire broke out from a gas cylinder at a house in Telir Chala area of Mouchak in Kaliakair around 6 pm on Wednesday. When the residents of the house threw it out on the road, the explosion occurred, leaving several others also injured.
